^{Intelligent and careful, though call him a coward and you may come to regret it. He's a strategist as well as a fighter, and his family was well reputed. He is kind, especially towards women and children, and is jovial at the best of times. It doesn't take much to get him to open up, and he cherishes and appreciates as much as he can take.}

^{Single heir of a wealthy noble family, he was raised into his role and suited it well. Duke Griffin, he was, and he provided for a small humble but content duchy in a corner of Kanto. Plague ravaged the duchy, leaving most of the town in ruins and his own wife and children dead. Guilty that he was unable to prevent or stop the illness, and believing he brought it upon his people (as the one responsible for their wellfare), he left the duchy to the charge of one of his surviving younger brothers and set off on a soul seeking journey.
He's found himself in Unova years later, and has joined the ranks of the warrior's guild in hopes that there is still something he can do to protect some people.}

^{Tessa was Samuel's mount even before he left Kanto. They've been together for years, and he trusts her with his life. She can be quite sanguine. He often asks for her counsel. Samuel always picks her flowers for her birthday.}

^{Humbert was a bit of a troublemaker of a lickutung. Samuel made the mistake of feeding him once, and ever since the pink blob has not left his side. Samuel is secretly fond of him, though.}
